the Thai - Italian Influence: Corrado Feroci and the Origins of Silpakorn University
Walking into the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), I embarked on a journey of artistic discovery that led me to a revelation: the founder of the esteemed Fine Arts school, now Silpakorn University, was Italian. Corrado Feroci, known in Thailand as Silpa Bhirasri, left an indelible mark on the country's art scene, shaping its trajectory in ways I never imagined!
Feroci's story is one of cultural fusion and artistic vision. Born in Italy, he ventured to Thailand in the early 20th century, bringing with him a wealth of artistic expertise. Little did I know that this foreigner would become a central figure in Thailand's art history.
As I left the museum, inspired by Feroci's story, I couldn't help but marvel at the interconnectedness of the global art community. For more info this post is really interesting corrado feroci – Siam Rat Blog
